DIY: Old renewed

DIY wooden table DIY wooden table

Mason jars DIY

IMG_6660

My love for beautiful things has oh so many extents to all kinds of different areas, one of them, of course, being interior design and home decor. And man, when to appreciate the flow of life any better, than at that certain moment, when you find something old and useless, just to get an immediate idea of how to transform it into something beautiful and Pinterest worthy. And that's exactly what happened to me this morning.

I was just eating my breakfast on the balcony, while suddenly I notice this old, dusty mason jar in between my mother's plants. I looked it up, it was all empty and just crying out for a DIY. So, after a quick brainstorming, I decided to do something candle related, since I always wanted a beautiful spot like that in my room. I first tried poking some holes into the cover of the jar, appearance wise, but also hoping that the candle might get enough oxygen to burn even with the cover shut and just have a little mason jar light on the side of my bed. Needless to say: fail.

But, since I had really gotten into the project, I searched for each and every candle we own at our house and got this vision of a romantic, yet cool bedside candle diarrhea. I went into the kitchen and took my mother's vintage, metal tray that we never ever use and "borrowed it" to use it as some kind of a platform. I then started applying all the candles, trying to make it look as versatile as possible. And there, before I knew it, I had this beautiful candle display in front of me and my day was complete. All I could use now is the night, a lover and some Marvin Gaye in the background. Oh yeahhh.

And now it's left me blind.

Today I cut my old tracksuit pants and got a pair of shorts that I adore already. I love the minimalist paired with statement pieces, like those glitter loafers.

DIY: Cut Out Skull Top

Quite an easy and self explanatory DIY. Worth every second of my precious lil' time. Oh yeah.

DIY: Bitch Slut Whore Tea Cups

I saw a picture of these awesome cups on Tumblr some time ago and needless to say, I thought they were amazing. So, since my friend just turned 22 two days ago and I had no fucking idea of what to buy her, I came up with an idea to DIY these. Apparently the universe was on my side as I managed to find exactly three vintage floral tea cups and a perfect black marker for porcelain, all in a couple of hours, just before the party.

To me this gift is one of those special and cool ones, that will hopefully last and always mean something. I'm definitely going to make another set for myself as well. For our little trio, the bitch, the whore and the slut.

DIY: Simple Leather Clutch

Again, I got a little bit inspired by Love Aesthetics and this is literally one of the quickest DIY's I've ever done. I have just recently bought a new pair of leather leggings, because my old leather pants had ripped in the waist area. So, I was left with some cool looking fabric, which I was just dying to re-use and this is what I did.

If you can notice by the shape, you can see how the bag is just an upper part (the thigh part) of the pant, turned upside down and just a little bit adjusted by the lenght, so it wouldn't appear too long. Then, since I don't know how to sew well, I just used a hot glue gun to glue the bottom together (turned it inside out and glued the ends), I carefully cut out the holes for the hands and I got a simple, cool looking bag. And then when I folded everything downwards, I also got a clutch. So, there you go, two in one.

21.

It's my birthday today. :) I just turned 21 and I'm really excited, not so much about the number itself, but about all the new things that are coming to me, I am satisfied with where I am in my life right now and I am aspiring to more. I hope to achieve great things this year, be successful in my path, give love and be happy and enjoy as much as I can, so I can always continue to say that I have no regrets.

And also, a big thank you to all of you who are a part of this blog in whichever way that is. xxx

DIY: Fringed Top

A very simple DIY I did a while ago. I got my hands on this top, that my brother didn't seem to wear anymore. It looked interesting itself, but it needed to get even better, so I did this.

I first cut the sleeves off a bit, then the collar line and the bottom of the top. Then I started cutting the fabric to about 1cm wide fringes. It takes a while, but it's not a big deal. When I finished cutting it, I pulled on each one to make them look more loose and natural and if you want to you can also shorten them up by lenght, because they can seem pretty long (just try it on while you're altering it).

DIY: Transparent Cuff

A while ago, I saw a pair of beautiful transparent cuffs on this great blog, Love Aesthetics. When I first saw the picture, I immediately thought "where to buy them??" - of course, turns out it was another one of Ivania Carpio's amazing DIY's. Lucky me.

So, a few weeks ago, I found the material and made them myself. Unfortunately, I screwed up the first one, but the second one turned out more than amazing. I'll most certainly try to do more with this material, she has already posted a whole bunch of new, mind blowing ideas.

See the original tutorial here + check out her blog, you won't regret it.

DIY: Miu Miu Inspired Shoes

I did this DIY about a week ago, using a pair of stilettos I ruined last year in a club.
The pattern was chosen randomly, but since I've always loved the Miu Miu swallow heels and this whole pattern...it was my first and only option.

Damn, it feels good to be blogging again.

American flag shorts.

Heres's what I've been doing yesterday. I took an old pair of some "above the knee" jeans. I cut them. I painted them. And here's the finished product. DIY American flag shorts. I still have to iron them, but they're pretty much done.
Best thing: they didn't cost me a cent, but their value is priceless.

Dot dot dot.

I made this polka dot dress out of a sarong, that I wore to the beach this year. One day I got an idea and tried it out. I like the kinda "pin up meets Amy Winehouse" vibe. I've also put a black tube skirt underneath it, because otherwise it's a bit see through. :D
